NOTRE-DAME BASILICA
Montréal's famous landmark, Notre-Dame Basilica, is a visually pleasing if slightly gaudy symphony of carved wood, paintings, gilded sculptures and stained-glass windows.
Built in 1829 on the site of an older and smaller church, it also sports a famous Casavant organ and the Gros Bourdon, said to be the biggest bell in North America.
The Basilica’s vast size, executed in the Gothic Revival style, the extraordinary craftsmanship and artistic polish of its fittings, its many fine works of religious art, and the interior of its chapel inspired by the Sainte-Chapelle in Paris, are heritage features whose preservation and enhancement demand the greatest possible attention and care.
OLD MONTREAL TOUR
Old Montréal, which was once enclosed by thick stone walls, is the oldest part of the city. It has been preserved in much of its original state, with the oldest buildings dating back to the 1600s.
It runs roughly from the waterfront in the south to ruelle des Fortifications in the north and from rue McGill in the west to rue Berri in the east.
OLYMPIC PARK
Montreal’s eye-catching Olympic Park was constructed in 1976 in order to host the Olympic Winter Games. After the games, the park’s organizing committee set about to transform Olympic Park into a bustling center which houses an observatory, an advanced sports center and a venue to hold huge trade shows.
If you want to see Montreal in a new way, take the funicular to the top of the Observatory Tower, where stunning views of the city and its surroundings await!
The Olympic Park is home to one of the most advanced sport and aquatic centers in the world. It houses no less than five large swimming pools, including a competition pool and a water polo pool.
A 580 square foot fitness room houses the latest sporting equipment and top trainers to design individualized programs.
MONTREAL BIODOME
An oasis in the heart of the city, the Montréal Biodôme recreates some of the most beautiful ecosystems of the Americas: the lush and humid Tropical Rainforest, warm even in the depths of a Montréal winter; the Laurentian Maple Forest, changing with the seasons; the Gulf of St. Lawrence; and the Subpolar Regions of the Americas: Labrador Coast and Sub-Antarctic Islands.
Everything from gourmet coffee breaks to extravagant banquet functions can be arranged.
At the Biodome, visitors can interact with the diverse flora and fauna of five different ecosystems from across the Americas.
With its dazzling combination of blue and gold, the Basilica is a place like no other in Montreal – once seen, never forgotten.
