Penally Abbey is a true labour of love for husband and wife team Lucas and Melanie Boissevain. Falling for the charming 18th Century property in 2014, they saw a definite niche for a small, intimate luxury hotel and top quality restaurant to serve Tenby and the surrounding area.
An interior designer by profession, it was Melanie's task to give the hotel's unique interior spaces and guest rooms an inspired new lease of life.
Introducing cool, elegant lighting and colour schemes, helped by a wealth of character features and carefully selected furnishings, the house has never looked better. The same could be said about the delightful historic grounds and hotel restaurant.

Room 7 has abundant space and a refined luxury. Pale and restful blue walls are offset with cream furnishings, along with stirring sea views towards Tenby and Caldey Island. The perfect room to treat someone to a truly special break in Pembrokeshire.
There is also the option of a sofa bed to convert this into a family room.
Room 3 is an elegant, spacious bedroom with a super kingsize bed and luxury furnishings including a sofa (which can be made into an extra bed) and a cosy armchair. A welcoming haven of style and comfort, there are views over both the gardens and courtyard, and plenty of space from which to enjoy them.
This bedroom has an ensuite bathroom with a bath and a separate walk in shower.
Room 9 & Room 10 are comfortable, stylish Double or Twin rooms on the ground floor of converted Coach House just steps from the main hotel. Fresh and inviting, these also include a sunny seat on the terrace, with easy access to the gardens.
These rooms can offer dog friendly accommodation, but please do let the hotel know if you are travelling with a four-legged friend.
Room 1 is a cosy room at the top of the house with spectacular elevated views over the dunes to Tenby, Carmarthen Bay and Caldey Island. This room has a private bathroom which is not ensuite.
Room 2 is a lovely secret bedroom under the eaves at top of the house, with peaceful views across the gardens. It has a bath with hand shower unit.
Room 11 and Room 12 are stylish and slightly larger Double or Twin rooms for guests on the first floor of converted Coach House. Access is via a private external staircase. Tranquil and spacious, these rooms also have a balcony with table and chairs, ideal for a romantic glass of wine looking out to the sea in the distance.
Room 6 is a wonderfully light, welcoming and generously sized room, with floor to ceiling views across the dunes to Tenby and the Gower Peninsula that are enhanced by full height period windows. Zoffany Toile de Jouy wallpaper adds a calming touch of decadence.
Room 8 Is a spacious but cosy room and has a king size bed. Elegantly furnished with wonderful views across the golf course towards the sea and Caldey Island.
Room 5 is a serene, airy and supremely comfortable Superior Double room. A four poster bed gives an added decadence to this luxurious space, which also boasts beautiful views of Carmarthen bay and across to Caldey Island.
A sofa bed is also included, which can be used to convert this space into a family room. A magnificent choice for a memorable stay.

Upton Castle Gardens definitely falls into the latter category with a delightful mixture of cultivated and wild surroundings.You can discover the tombs of Crusader knights, or simply stroll and take in the fresh air by your way to the Cleddau estuary.
Within a peaceful estuary setting and its own tiny quayside, Lawrenny is delightful, quite secret place to visit in Pembrokeshire. There are excellent local walks, while it is also a popular spot for sailing.
Manorbier has an atmospheric castle, along with the beautiful and often overlooked "secret" beach of Precipe. For those who don't mind a walk, this is a little paradise of clean sand and lovely rocky coves.
In order for wedding guests to enjoy the space the hotel does small weddings for up to 40 people with a potential extra 20-30 people in the evening when the bride and groom have exclusive use of the whole hotel.
