HISTORY
Hotel Continental opened in 1900 with 30 rooms and Theatercaféen on the ground and first floors.
Caroline and Christian Boman Hansen took over operation of the hotel and café in 1909, and both have been in the family’s ownership since.
A conversion of the café in 1949 was completely at odds with its distinctive former style. Ellen Brochmann, the third-generation owner, was not pleased.
Her dream was to reverse this modernisation, and Theatercaféen recovered its original Art Nouveau look in 1971. A chambre séparée and bar were established in 2010.
Theatercaféen is owned today by Elisabeth Brochmann, the fourth generation of the family.
