TRADITION
Set within old pathways and rolling streams, dwellings have been renovated in traditional Jiangnan style, using the original stone, earth and wood construction. Calligraphy reflects Hangzhou’s artistic and intellectual heritage.
ADVENTURES
The bridges, pagodas, islands and gardens of West Lake, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, invite serene reflection on foot or by boat. In the city, Hangzhou’s silk trading streets Xinhua and Jiankang offer another variety of beauty.
THE TEMPLES
Guests are welcome to join monks’ early-morning prayer sessions at nearby Buddhist temples. Seven sacred sites can be reached by foot from Amanfayun, including Lingyin Si, Temple of the Soul’s Retreat, founded in the 4th century.
Hidden in a valley near West Lake and surrounded by tea plantations and temples, Amanfayun’s Rooms, Suites and Villas are tucked into a picturesque wood alongside a meandering stream.
Each of the 42 Rooms, Suites and Villas is unique, showcasing its history within this former tea-planting village and accented with contemporary touches.
Roofs are clay tile and interior floors are stone or wood, and some offer upper floors with views over the treetops. Fine calligraphy art pieces decorate the walls.
VILLAS
Designed over two levels, Amanfayun’s Villas comprise king-size bedrooms with village and woodland views. Each has a spacious en suite bathroom.
ROOMS AND SUITES
Amanfayun is a place of winding stone footpaths and shaded courtyards through which the dwellings – some dating back over a century – are accessed.
The 290-square-metre (3,121square-foot) Amanfayun Villa includes two en-suite bedrooms and spacious living areas
set around a private courtyard. As well as a private double massage room, there is also an intimate reading area.
Overlooking the village and surrounding woodland, they feature separate bedrooms and living areas, as well as access to private or semi-private courtyards.
Village Villas offer 204 square metres (2,583 square feet) of refined living space, complete with private massage rooms for two.
The spacious Deluxe Village Suites cover 135 square metres (1,453 square feet) and some offer private massage facilities.
Several are duplexes, with living areas downstairs and bedrooms and bathrooms upstairs overlooking the village and forest.
Village Suites are beautifully furnished in traditional Jiangnan style.
Everything is made for your comfortable stay.
The 16 Village Rooms measure 66 square metres (710 square feet) on average and offer courtyard or forest views.
Most open to private or semi-private courtyards with an informal outdoor dining and lounging area.
Amanfayun’s varied culinary options are dotted across the grounds: the glass-walled Restaurant looks out over an evergreen grove, while the relaxed Steam House serves up traditional fare in a simple high-ceilinged pavilion,
with outdoor tables for summer dining. Three independently operated eateries are also set within the village: the Hangzhou House, the Tea House and the Vegetarian House.
Lounging and dining areas are on the ground floor, a Cigar Room, Library and informal sitting/reading rooms are upstairs.
Fayun place specialises in traditional fare, as well as western and vegetarian dishes.

The Steam House serves up traditional fare in a simple high-ceilinged pavilion, with outdoor tables for summer dining.
