Situated on the banks of a peaceful lagoon this tented camp embraces the vision of The Khwai Private Wildlife Reserve, a footprint sensitive and community based joint venture partnership.
The Khwai village (and its residents) is administered by this trust. Sable Alley is a complete rebuild of a favourite old bush camp.
Overlooking a lagoon that’s connected to the Khwai and Sable Alley rivers, just a stone’s throw from the world-famous Moremi Game Reserve, this is an enviable location.
From the swimming pool, lounge, outdoor seating areas and all the guest’s tents there are uninterrupted views of the resident pod of around 30 hippos and the large herds of plains game, elephant and buffalo coming to drink – an idyllic way to spend an afternoon, especially with a cold gin and tonic in hand.
When you are ready to explore further afield, Sable Alley’s expert guides are on hand to interpret the sights, smells, and sounds of the bush.
There are 12 very spacious timber and canvas suites at Sable Alley, each mounted on its own wooden deck and with views over the in-house waterhole.
Crisp-lined and decorated with style and flair, you also have your own private bathroom with both indoor and outdoor shower.
All meals and selected drinks are included at Sable Camp and meals are taken communally unless private dining is requested. You begin the day with an early wake-up call served with tea, coffee and biscuits.
Following your return from your morning activity, you sit down to a hearty mid-morning breakfast.
Lunch is served after your siesta, and there is time for high tea before you head out on your afternoon activity.
Dinner is a 3-course affair, served under the stars or under canvas.
There is a pool surrounded by sun loungers and shade umbrellas.
During game drives at Sable Alley Camp you could have excellent sightings of lion, wild dog, spotted hyena and African wild cat.
Allowing guests the opportunity to sleep under the stars with just a mosquito net separating them from the wild.
When water levels allow it is also possible to enjoy the quintessential delta excursion and explore the waterways by mokoro, the traditional dugout canoe, a tranquil way to enjoy birding and you glide over the water.
