FROM TREASURE ISLAND TO LUXURY HIDEAWAY
Bonzour, as they say here. You have arrived 4° south of the equator in the Seychelles. In the 300 years since its discovery, this archipelago of 115 paradise islands has seen all sorts of visitors settle here. In the 17th century, pirates were among the first inhabitants, using islands like Fregate as a base for attacks against Britain's East India Company.
Declared a French colony in the 18th century, the islands changed hands several times between the French and British before gaining independence in 1976. Throughout its history, the Seychelles has become home to people from all continents and is today famous for their blend of cultural backgrounds. And for the warm welcome extended to guests from around the world.
Fregate Island is a unique destination where one can experience the best the Seychelles has to offer. The name recalls legends and tales of treasure chests buried under the sands, as immortalized in Robert Louis Stevenson's "Treasure Island". And with over ten kilometers of roads and walking trails, you can comfortably explore the island - both with your own electric buggy and by foot.
FREGATE ISLAND'S SEVEN BEACHES ARE ALL YOURS
Where else in the world can you find a beach that is frequently voted the world's best?
The hotel prides itself on the beauty and seclusion of its beaches, some of which gently slope into deeper waters without a fringe reef. Each of its seven beaches – one of which offers absolute privacy – has its own unique character and atmosphere.
Whether you wish to start the day with a fruit salad breakfast, enjoy the sunset with a cocktail or just go for a swim, the beaches will make your paradise retreat perfect.
ISLAND HARBOUR - YOUR GATEAWAY TO ADVENTURE
Fully protected from unauthorized access and harsh weather conditions, the inland harbor in the lagoon is the first port of call for a wide variety of adventures on water.
Your dive trips, deep sea fishing tours, Hobie Cat sailing excursions, sunset cruises and Seychelles island safaris all set off from here. The small and charming Yacht Club also offers intimate dining experiences, and not just for nautical enthusiasts. Besides serving as a starting point for your water-based activities, the harbor is also where Fregate's own cargo boat docks to unload all the goods required to make your stay comfortable.
THE SEASONS FINEST FRUIT & VEGETABLES
The plantation gardens and hydroponics house offer a fantastic variety of fruits and vegetables from the tropics and other regions. The hotel's team grows more than 50 different types of fruits and vegetables, which the team uses in the cuisine. All organically grown and without the use of pesticides, they are the best in quality and taste.
The plantation gardens also provide a superb backdrop for a dining occasion, where the food is brought and prepared fresh from the garden to the plate. The hydroponics house – where the hotel's team grows a variety of tomatoes and spinach – offers insights into sustainable cultivation. The excess production is highly sought after by other hotels on the main island.
THE FLORA & FAUNA
At 125 meters above sea level, the highest point of the island is Mont Signal, where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the island's jungle, beaches, rugged granite outcrops, the ocean and the neighboring islands. With hiking routes all over the island, you can explore its incomparable scenery and beauty.
A fragment of the former supercontinent Gondwanaland, Fregate is today home to a unique assortment of exotic and precious flora and fauna. The ongoing preservation and protection of Fregate’s ecosystem is one of the proudest achievements, and is the reason why the island remains home to such an amazing biodiversity.
