It is said that afternoon tea is a perfect example of quintessential Britain.
Indeed it was Anna, the 7th Duchess of Bedford who, upon complaining of hunger pains between meals, often received a pot of tea & light snack in her private boudoir during the afternoon.
When she returned to London she invited friends to join her for ‘tea and walking in the fields’.
Other social hostesses soon picked up on this and it soon became respectable to take tea and sandwiches in the Drawing Room, a room traditionally used in the 18th century for entertaining guests after dinner.
Guests can enjoy live music every evening from 7.00h - 23.00h in the Drawing Room, playing jazz standards and contemporary tunes to be enjoyed with hand crafted cocktails or champagne and light bites.
