The Grand Café first opened in 1874. In the restaurant, Henrik Ibsen would eat his daily lunch and Edvard Munch once offered to swap the painting ‘Sick Girl’ in return for 100 steak dinners.
Now, more than 140 years later a new era has begun. A new restaurant and an extensive wine cellar. Hotel's team is looking forward to welcoming new and returning guests, starting the next chapter.

The restaurant serves Nordic food with inspiration from around the world.
The open-plan solution gives guests a direct view into the kitchen, which is run by Norway's National Culinary Team Captain Alexander Ostli Berg and Head Chef Christofer Bengtsson. Grand Café is open everyday for lunch and dinner.
THE WINE CELLAR
The wine cellar can be found in the basement below the restaurant. It holds over 16 000 bottles and more than 1500 wines from all around the world, and in all price ranges. Down here Grand Café's team serves nibbles and snacks – a perfect combination when you enjoy a glass of wine or two.

Othilia Lasson Engelhart – nick named “Ms.Oda” and was married to the famous painter Christian Krohg and represented the era of Bohemian women, which broke taboos.
She learned that Grand Café was only for men, this did not detour her, she attended debates, smoked cigarettes and enjoyed her cocktails. Othilia was also very popular amongst the bohemian men of 1800’s.
And nowadays, for the first time in Grand Hotel’s history, it now has a lobby bar – Othilia.

The building of Norwegian parliament (the residence of the Storting ) is located in the center of Oslo. The building was commissioned on March 5, 1866. The project was designed by the British architect Emile Victor Langlet.
