On the strength of the own Myconian roots, and as one of the island’s preeminent families in hospitality, hotel's team have time-honoured ties to local farmers and fishermen, some going back three decades.
Tomatoes, cucumbers, aubergines, zucchini, peppers, onion, garlic, lemons, and aromatic herbs such as sage, thyme, oregano and rosemary, are grown exclusively for hotel's restaurants. Even the salt is the finest “fleur de sel” harvested around the island of Delos.
Hotel's two “underground” sources provide us with secret supplies: the octopus in one of the signature dishes is delivered by Panagiotis, an old friend of the MD’s father, George Daktylides, who knows the waters around Rhenia like the back of his hand and only fishes for himself and the chef.
And of course, since retiring as CEO of the Myconian Collection in 2011, Daktylides himself has taken to rearing lamb and pork on family land.
Restaurant is sheltered from the evening breeze in an alcove of rough-hewn stone. As one of the top tables on the island, Efisia offers a gourmet menu in the Relais & Châteaux tradition, pairing a culinary experience with luxurious atmosphere.
Panos Papadopoulos, hotel's talented resident Executive Chef since 2013, was born in Naousa, a small city in Greece famous for its wines. Panos is passionate about infusing classics with regional flavours, and reveres the process of using seasonal organic produce to create world-class cuisine.
After attending culinary schools in Thessaloniki and London, he apprenticed at the one-Michelin-starred 1 Lombard Street in London, the two-Michelin-starred Le Cerf in Lausanne and Michelin’s 3-star Akelarre in San Sebastian, as well as the legendary Vardis in Kifisia, Athens.
