The history of the Maison Philippe Le Bon, situated only a 2-minute walk from the Palace of the Dukes of Burgundy, is intimately linked with the history of Burgundy.
Indeed, the establishment is composed of three magnificent private hotels which are listed. The most interesting part of the building is for sure the gothic courtyard perfectly kept where you will have the chance to have a glass of wine or eat. Besides, several rooms have a view on the gothic courtyard.
From 1490, Thomas Berbisey, who was a close relation of the French king Louis XI, starts the edification of his house. According to his plans, he decided to build the gothic courtyard where we still can see marvelous sculptures.
In 1571, Thomas Berbisey's descendants sold the house to a congregation of nuns, called the Sainte Marthe. Then, in 1789, revolutionaries took the house and then several owners succeeded each other.
Nowadays, this establishment has a shaded terrace, a listed gothic courtyard and several cellars where you will have the chance to appreciate the mix of modernity and charm.
