A short distance to the west of Vomo sits Vomo Lai Lai, a true deserted island. Surrounded by trademark aqua waters, this tiny island has some of the finest snorkelling and diving.
Vomo Lai Lai can be hired by romantic couples for your own Robinson Crusoe experience.
You will be taken you by boat the short 1 mile/1.6 kilometres to the island, set up a beautiful gourmet picnic for you to enjoy under a shady umbrella. You’ll have a two-way radio to call when you want to return back to ‘civilisation’ at Vomo or if you run out of champagne!
FIJIAN CULTURE
The Fijian culture is an extremely important part of Vomo’s ethos. Fiji has an ancient and living culture and this is celebrated at Vomo. The genuine warmth and hospitality of the Fijian people needs to be experienced to be appreciated.
You hear about the friendly people of Fiji but it is not until you stay at Vomo that you will fully understand how the Fijian way of life integrates so harmoniously with hospitality. The Fijian culture is much about community and family, just as Vomo is.
Each Thursday evening, Vomo hosts all guests for an authentic Meke and Lovo night. In the morning, the Lovo pit is prepared where some of the evening meal is cooked in the traditional Fijian method under the ground. The evening ceremony includes a selection of Meke dances and songs performed by the Vomo family of staff.
Guests also have the opportunity to try the national ‘drink’ called Kava in a ceremony following the Meke and throughout the evening dinner service of the Lovo.
Kava is the traditional drink of Fiji, prepared with water and the powdered root of the kava plant.
Following the Meke, Vomo’s chefs present a Fijian-inspired buffet featuring local ingredients and authentic island dishes. You will remember the Meke as a highlight of your stay.
The Kids Village at Vomo also integrates the Fijian culture into the children’s programme through several of the activities included.
Throughout your stay you may be able to celebrate the Tree of Life where hotels team educates guests about the coconut palm tree and its importance as part of Fijian life through various discussions, demonstrations, and activities that are part of the optional daily program.
It takes about 2 hours to take a leisurely walk around Vomo Island and discover a multitude of beautiful beaches and swimming spots along the way. Best to go at low or falling tide to ensure you can circumnavigate with ease.
Padi Dive Centre offers a range of diving courses from beginners to advanced level. This includes Padi speciality courses such as Deep Diver, Wreck Diver, Underwater Photography and Night Diver Courses.
Try your hand at sport fishing aboard purpose built fishing boat. A 2 hour trolling trip around Vomo will target spanish mackerel, trevally and kingfish. Handline fishing with bait can be enjoyed from one of long boats, targeting bottom fish such as snapper and grouper.
The 9 hole pitch and putt golf course meanders through the coconut groves in the middle of Vomo Island.

Nearly everyone who visits Vomo attempts to conquer Mt Vomo. It’s a relatively easy hike to the top, taking 30 minutes and coming down is a little steep and takes a little longer. The views from the top are simply breathtaking and provide 360 degree views of the islands.
Vomo can be booked exclusively for private hire for destination weddings, birthdays, special occasions, family functions or corporate events and incentives. Hiring Vomo allows a larger group to celebrate on their own private island in truly elegant tropical style.
The snorkelling around Vomo and Vomo Lailai is exceptional and can be accessed directly from the beach, which is protected by an outer reef, making it a great environment for swimming throughout the day.
In choosing to celebrate your special occasion or event on Vomo, you will be surrounded by luxurious island style. Hire out part or all of island for the perfect family get together, corporate retreat or other special occasions.
Once you’ve had your fill of relaxing by the pool or indulging with many water based activities, you may wish to enjoy a game of tennis on synthetic grass court. Balls and racquets available on complimentary basis.
Non motorised water activities are included in the daily rates: stand up paddle boards, single and double kayaks, hobie cat sailing, windsurfing, snorkelling equipment and snorkel safaris.
From an intimate celebration for two through to a large group, management team can assist with the organisation of your wedding day, helping to arrange everything from the celebrant to the cuisine, flowers to the photography and your personal touches in between.
KIDS VILLAGE
Vomo’s Kids Village is a superbly appointed facility, caring specifically for Little Islanders year round. Open every day from 9am to 9pm with breaks for rest time, the Kids Village offers much more than child minding.
Accessed via a fun suspension bridge, the air-conditioned Kids Village features a playroom with quality toys, kitchen, media room, cubby house, undercover play areas, outdoor climbing frames, a purpose built BBQ and dining area, dress up wardrobe and craft tables.
The entire facility is a bright and colourful experience for little minds and eyes and is interactive, secure and a delight for parents and children alike.
Little Islanders 4 and over, can play at the Kids Village without parents and care is provided by Vomo Activities Co-ordinators on a complimentary basis at the Kids Village, each day from 9am to 9pm with some breaks for lunch and bath time.
The Kids Village has a dedicated Chef who prepares a delicious array of cuisine for Little Islanders and takes into consideration the nutritional value as well as tasty appeal of dishes on offer.
Children are encouraged to eat breakfast with their family, can choose between a Kids Village lunch or a family meal and encouraged to dine with their Little Islander friends for the evening meal, to give parents time to enjoy adult only areas around Vomo such as The Rocks for sunset cocktails.
Vomo’s experienced baby butlers and nannies will supervise and entertain children and will be joined by the club’s own chef to dish up specially prepared children’s meals, served in the club’s dining area. The Kids Village is complimentary.
Under 4′s must be accompanied by a baby butler or nanny.
BABY BUTLER
For children under 3, they are welcome to come to the Kids Village with a Baby Butler or parent/guardian and enjoy the facilities. They will enjoy the soft rubber floors of the playroom and the high quality of the toys and books available.
Vomo has a number of Baby Butlers available to care for your children throughout your stay. Whilst the majority of Butlers are females, males can be requested and this is popular for parents of boys.
Vomo’s Baby Butlers provide babysitting services for children of any age at FJD$15 per hour. Each Butler can care for up to two children. For 3 children are suggested 2 Butlers.
BUBBLE BLOWERS COURSE
Hot off the press! Vomo now offers PADI certified diving courses and your little ones can also join for a Bubble Blowers Course in the swimming pool, where experts will direct them through the steps necessary for travelling in the underwater world.
For children 10 yrs old and above, the PADI Discover Scuba Diving course offers a confined water session up to 12 meters (40 feet) in combination with theory briefing by instructor.
Note: Children must be 8 to 12 yrs old who are fit and able to swim to join the Bubble Blowers Course. Cost applies for diving courses.
