The remote location is not for the impatient traveler, but those seeking a true escape will be richly rewarded. Three Camel Lodge offers a luxurious take on the traditional nomadic lifestyle.
Many of the Lodge staff members were raised right here in the Gobi, and all are happy to share their love and knowledge of the desert.
The Gobi is the home, and the hotel wants all who visit Three Camel Lodge to know that they are the honored guests.
Built in the heart of the Gobi according to environmentally and culturally sustainable development guidelines, the Three Camel Lodge offers a blend of adventure and sophistication, combining traditional style with superb service to create the ultimate expedition experience.
The hotel take great pride in welcoming you with traditional Mongolian hospitality and providing the highest standard of service. The staff is dedicated to making every stay at the Three Camel Lodge a comfortable, relaxing and memorable experience.
The free-spirited nomadic lifestyle is a defining characteristic of Mongolian culture. Nomads pick up and move their gers, or traditional felt and canvas dwellings, several times a year based on the availability of food for their animals and the weather patterns.
Three Camel Lodge offers a slice of the nomadic lifestyle with an elevated take on the classic ger.
The simple elegance of the gers blends with the Gobi’s remarkable landscape, and in keeping with Mongolian tradition, each has a southward-facing entrance.
Gaze upon unobstructed views of the desert and the Gobi-Altai Mountains from the privacy of your deluxe ger.
The ger’s oculus, or central opening to the sky, may have a practical use for nomads as a sundial, but it translates to spectacular stargazing at night from the privacy of your bed.
Three Camel Lodge is comprised of 40 individual gers. Handmade using a latticed wood construction and covered with layers of felt and canvas, each ger at the Three Camel Lodge is heated by a wood stove and appointed with hand-painted wood-framed king or double beds and custom furnishings.
Each ger also features a private bathroom equipped with a toilet, sink and shower. Mongolian felt slippers and bathrobes are among the locally influenced in-room amenities.
The hotel invites families or those seeking more space to book one of the two specialty gers.
The Khubilai Ger is particularly well-suited to families, with two bedrooms linked by a bathroom, while the Genghis Ger features a bedroom and a relaxation space, as well as a private bathroom.
Three Camel Lodge provides a true escape from the everyday. As such, there are no telephones or access to the Internet.
The Bulagtai Restaurant serves Mongolian and Western-style dishes in an authentic oversized ger, similar to those used by great Khans centuries ago. Fresh vegetables and fruits are harvested from organic farms in nearby Bulgan, a small oasis community built around an artesian well.
Because Mongolia is one of the few remaining places where livestock are herded on fenceless, open pastures and eat a wide variety of grasses, shrubs, and herb species, Mongolian meats are organic and some of the freshest in the world.
All dairy products, except pre-packaged cheeses and yogurts, are acquired from local nomadic families and pasteurized onsite.
Purchasing food and supplies locally provides this remote region with opportunities for economic growth through responsible tourism.

The main lounge area, Dino House, is the showpiece of the Three Camel Lodge. Mongolian artifacts and traditional designs are blended to create a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere where guests can sit next to the fireplace, at the bar, or on the swings on the veranda to soak in the expansive tranquility of the desert.
Dino House is fashioned after the traditional Mongolian sum, or temple. Local artisans and workers crafted the roof of the building in accordance with the canons of Mongolian Buddhist architecture without using a single nail. The clay tiles adorning the roof were molded by hand and dried in the warm Gobi sun.
Sitting on the veranda allows for unobstructed views of the vast Gobi desert. Guests have the unique opportunity to watch passing nomads water their herds of livestock at the community well, rebuilt by the Three Camel Lodge
A variety of indigenous and Western games are available for use in Dino House. Guests can learn how to play the most beloved Mongolian game, Shagai (sheep and goat anklebone). Contact a staff member to learn how to play Shagai and other traditional Mongolian games.
Every guest is invited to browse and borrow the books from the small library. The restaurant encourages travelers to donate books no longer needed for the enjoyment of future visitors.
The Thirsty Camel bar offers a selection of wine, vodka, spirits, beers, and sodas, including domestic varieties such as Chinggis Vodka and Golden Gobi Beer.
