Nestled in the heart of the Essaouira hills, sheltered from the high winds, in a magnificent natural setting formed over millennia by the Oued Ksob (river), the Jardin des Douars is a beautiful Guest Ksar (palace) dedicated to lovers of nature, authenticity, simplicity and kindness.
A guesthouse of charm in voluptuous forms, constructed in accordance with Moroccan traditions and materials, combining a subtle refinement of decor with a luxuriant garden to achieve true relaxation and simplicity. A rarely experienced luxury for a discerning clientele seeking to relax with simple pleasures, either as a couple or with the family.
A hideaway where you can stroll in the garden or in the nooks and crannies of the house, or be massaged and pampered under the dome of the hammam.
A place to sample delicious cuisine, enjoy an aperitif in front of a grand fireplace, bask in the sun beside one of two pools or in a remote corner of a garden paradise offering absolute relaxation at all hours of the day.
A little lost paradise, blessed with at least 320 days a year of sunshine, just moments away from delightful Essaouira, with its port, ramparts, captivating medina and endless beaches and dunes.
Nearby, the famous Golf de Mogador course (36 holes designed by Gary Player). Plus, Essaouira boasts ideal winds for windsurfing and kitesurfing and many other activities (quad, horseback riding, mountain-biking, hiking...).
At the Jardin des Douars all rooms and suites are different and tastefully decorated, adding variety to the stays of regular guests. All the rooms are equipped with at least a large beldi style shower, air conditioning, hair dryer, large double bed and argan oil beauty products. Breakfast is included in the price of the room. By design, there are neither TV nor phones in the rooms.
Free wireless connection is available at several places in the house and library. For guests without children and who wish for absolute calm, we suggest avoiding school holiday periods or, otherwise, booking one of the "Luxe Rooms" in the heart of the garden, removed from the main building.
Private houses adjacent to Le Jardin des Douars, the Villa Suites are perfect for groups or families of up to 10 people wishing to combine hotel comfort with independence. Either the house cook will prepare your breakfasts and other meals, or you can cook on your own if you prefer.
Furthermore, you have access to all Jardin des Douars services and facilities: gardens, pools, restaurant, spa, shuttle service, organisation of leisure activities, etc.
All of the Villa Suites are different and tastefully decorated, providing a varied choice of accommodations for the regular guests.
They are equipped, at a minimum, with a private heated pool, a landscaped garden, air conditioning, Wifi, high quality beds and linens, a bathroom for each bedroom, and argan oil beauty products. Breakfast is included in the price of each villa.
At the Jardin des Douars, the cuisine is fragrant, inviting, subtle and refined but not ostentatious. Primarily inspired by the Mediterranean, the menu derives equal inspiration from a delicious array of Moroccan and French dishes. The chef attach great importance to satisfying gourmet palates.
At lunch (and sometimes in the evening), a spacious terrace welcomes you with a light and balanced menu à la carte, as well as changing daily suggestions on a blackboard. Cocktail hour invites everyone to the inside bar or to the beautiful terrace!
In the evening, La Table des Douars welcomes you with a seasonal à la carte menu highlighting local products. In addition to the seasonal menu, the chefs write on the blackboard a daily menu of Moroccan inspiration. Weather permitting, you may choose to dine either on the terrace or in one of the 2 indoor dining rooms.
The larger dining room, convivial and lively, will delight most dinner guests; the other dining room, intimate and romantic, is reserved for adults. All meals are served at private tables.

The massage techniques and body care offered at a hammam represent an essential element of Moroccan beauty and culture, and the same holds true for the hammam at the Jardin des Douars. The new Spa is a haven of peace where highly experienced therapists are dedicated to your wellbeing.
Under the dome of the spacious hammam, the team will pamper you with an argan-pulp face scrub. They will relax you with a tonic massage, Moroccan-style, using heated pumice stones or compresses with medicinal herbs.
Beauty treatments include: manicures, pedicures, facials, reflexology, waxing... you choose! And in front of the spa is a heated lap pool designed to help you tone your muscles and sculpt your body. The Jardin des Douars is surrounded by protected forests of argan trees whose fruit yields Essaouira’s “gold”: argan oil. Argan oil has subtle properties scientifically recognised for their effects on skin and beauty.
Many botanists have tried to plant argan trees around the world, all the way to Asia. But all attempts failed, the tree preferring its native land of Essaouira to all others.
Women's cooperatives around Essaouira gather fruit from argan trees surrounding their houses, peel off the fruit’s skin (used to heat hammams), then remove the argan pulp and knead it for your face scrubs.
Finally, they press the fruit in order to extract argan oil, which is then filtered to form the basis of all the treatments and traditional massages. At the spa, let yourself go. Let yourself be carried away by the expert care of the energy specialists and the magical ambience of the hammam.
Essaouira cannot leave you indifferent. Its ramparts pounded by Atlantic waves, its white façades with blue shutters, its carved doors and its lively souks make it a charming, preserved medina you’ll quickly fall in love with.
Facing the ocean, surrounded by hills, argan forests and dunes, Essaouira enjoys an exceptional microclimate favourable to the cultivation of cereals, fruits and vegetables, as well as to goat herding and forestry.
The city’s craftsmanship is rich and varied thanks to its mix of cultures. Souiris are masters of jewellery-making, inlaid woodwork and carpentry, mostly in thuya wood. Fishing remains an important industry at the old port, the heart of Essaouira. Its artisanal shipyard is unique in all the world. Snapped up by the most famous luxury brands, argan oil is the region’s gold and has made Essaouira’s reputation worldwide.
Tourism is expanding thanks to Essaouira’s exceptional setting as a seaside resort, to the nature reserve on the islands of Mogador, to the town’s stunning ramparts, to the Medina’s classification as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and finally, to the golf course designed by Gary Player and considered one of the most beautiful in the Maghreb.
In recent years, new disciples have arrived: windsurfers and kitesurfers attracted to the waves pushed by the winds, or Alizés, towards Moulay Bouzerktoun and Sidi Kaouki, and to the surf schools.
In a protected location on the edge of the Atlantic, two challenging 18-hole golf courses of great beauty offer breathtaking views of Essaouira.
Essaouira is known as one of the best spots in the world for windsurfing and kitesurfing in summer, and for surfing in winter.
